Mission Statement

The Nannie Helen Burroughs School is a private educational institution dedicated to Christian principles, which embrace the African world experience and culture.  The School is committed to the holistic education of children, which will provide them with the values, knowledge and skills to ensure their role as productive world citizens and leaders in the global context of the 21st century.

The Nannie Helen Burroughs School is a department of the Progressive National Baptist Convention, and serves as a model and facilitator of education and training to meet the additional needs of students, adults, families and communities locally, nationally and internationally.

Philosophy

We believe that every child has the inherent right to an education that will enhance the development of maximum capability, regardless of sex, ethnic origin, economic, social or religious background.

We believe that every child has a right to the tools that facilitate the achievement of personal goals and the fulfillment of obligations to society.

We believe that every individual has certain basic human needs beyond educational needs, which must be addressed, by the school.

We believe that the school must provide an environment in which all students are afforded an equal opportunity to obtain competencies that will help them survive as individuals and as members of society
