Helen Burroughs School is a private coeducational Christian school located in far Northeast Washington D.C. on a beautiful
thirteen-acre campus. Before and After Care is offered to our students as well as enriching programs, which
begin with devotion and the reading of scripture. A ninety-minute reading block gives students an opportunity to focus on
reading and writing skills. Regulation uniforms are required of our students and in addition to our core subjects our program
includes; Spanish, Art, Bible Instruction, Music, Choir and Computer Instructions.
The school is currently listed as one of the stops on
the African American Heritage Trail, which is a part of Cultural Tourism DC’s noted tourism sites and
is so recognized by their Historic Preservation’s plaque.
The school is accredited with the Middle States Association for Schools
and Colleges. We are piloting a primary curriculum that has been developed and has a copyright through
the Library of Congress. The teaching staff consists of experienced professional teachers.
Our extra-curricula programs offer
Drum & Piano lessons and a Dance program on Saturdays for an additional fee. A summer camp is offered
in the month of July to give our students an opportunity to explore, discover and learn more about their city, Washington,
D.C. We partner with organizations throughout the city to enhance our academic program during the school year.
Some of our partners include The Lab School of Washington, Howard University, Catapult Learning, Arena Stage, J. Craig
Venter Institute and several more.
